Weft  /  Utah

Weft builds the custom tool your business is missing to cut costs or grow revenue.

(often both at once)

01 / Sound Familiar?

You've said at least one of these out loud.

01

"I type the same customer into five different systems."

A new customer calls about a water heater. Your office manager writes it on the pad by the phone, types it into the scheduler, re-types it into QuickBooks when it's time to invoice, adds the email to the newsletter list, and starts a folder in Drive. In March the customer calls back — and the number in QuickBooks doesn't match the one in the scheduler. One of them has a typo. Nobody knows which.

What we'd build — Entered once, everywhere it belongs — spelled the same in all of them.

02 / What We Do

Find what's broken. Design the fix. Build it.

Everything we build falls into one of four areas.

Process Design & Automation

The repetitive tasks someone on your team does every week start doing themselves.

Analytics & Dashboards

One screen that tells you how the business is doing, updated on its own.

Know Which Marketing Actually Works

Every new customer is tagged with where they came from — so you know which marketing pays for itself, and which just costs money.

Websites That Get Found on Google and Cited by AI

A fast website customers can actually find, built to turn visitors into leads.

We build around the tools you already use — Shopify, QuickBooks, Clio, HubSpot, Google Analytics — or from scratch when nothing fits.

03 / The Work

Three recent projects.

Case 01 — Built from scratch

A live view of the whole business

OutcomeOne live screen, not a weekly rebuild

The owner can check the health of the business in seconds instead of rebuilding reports by hand every week.

SituationA growing online apparel brand was running on a tangle of Shopify reports and spreadsheets. There was no single place to see what was selling, what was actually profitable, or what needed reordering — so decisions got made on gut feel.

What Weft didBuilt a custom dashboard that gathers sales data automatically and shows it in one live view: best and worst sellers, sell-through rates, and revenue trends.

Case 02 — Connected existing tools

Bookkeeping that sorts itself

Before — hours After — minutes

OutcomeHours a month → a few minutes

A multi-hour monthly chore became a quick review — and the books stay accurate.

SituationA Utah law firm lost hours every month to manual bookkeeping — sorting bank transactions one by one, matching them to the accounting software, and chasing down mismatches between systems.

What Weft didDesigned a system that collects every transaction, sorts each one automatically, and sends the month to a simple review screen. A person approves it in minutes instead of doing data entry for hours.

Case 03 — Built from scratch

A new service line, built from scratch

Public county records Right homeowners found Targeted mail list Responses

OutcomeIdea → a launched service line

A brand-new service went from idea to launched, with a repeatable way to find new customers.

SituationA legal service wanted to reach homeowners who had old, unresolved liens still attached to their property. The problem: a list of those homeowners didn't exist anywhere.

What Weft didBuilt a tool that gathers public county records, identifies the right homeowners automatically, and produces a clean, targeted list ready for a direct-mail campaign — then built the website to receive the responses.

04 / How It Works

We find it, build it — then we keep it running.

Three phases, one relationship. A free look at what's possible, a fixed-price build, then a simple monthly fee to keep it alive.

Phase One — Free, no obligation

The Discovery

Before anything is quoted or built, we find what's worth automating — together. We talk through your business, then walk the work itself: the re-typing, the hand-sorting, the report someone rebuilds every Friday. You get a short written list of what could run on its own, what we'd build first, and a fixed price for it. If the honest answer is nothing's worth building yet, we say that too — it costs you nothing either way.

Phase Two — One-time cost

The Build

We agree on a fixed price before any work begins — no open-ended hourly billing, no meter running. We design and build the tool, you review it as it comes together, and when it's done it's yours and it works. One project, one cost, one finished system. (Every tool is different, so the build is quoted per project.)

Phase Three — Simple monthly fee

The Upkeep

Custom software needs upkeep, like a car. The tools it connects to keep releasing updates, your business changes, and now and then something needs a fix. The monthly fee covers all of that for the system we built — fixes, updates as your other tools change, and small tweaks along the way — plus direct access to the person who built it. Brand-new features that weren't part of the original build are quoted separately, as their own fixed-price project — so your monthly fee stays simple and predictable.

05 / About

One operator. A decade of building.

James Crook, founder of Weft

James Crook

Founder · Weft

I started Weft to do one thing well: build the custom tools and automations that take repetitive work off a business owner's plate.

I've spent the last decade building these systems inside companies. At Crook Legal Group, where I'm Senior Director of Operations & Marketing, I built the system that processes every new client automatically — work that used to eat hours now takes minutes. Before that, as Marketing Director at MGIS, a specialty insurance carrier, I built the tracking that finally showed which marketing actually brought in customers. Earlier: a startup of my own, and years spent making software actually fit the way a business works.

The common thread is simple. A business rarely needs more tools. It needs the ones it already has to work together — and one person who can make that happen. That's what Weft is.

06 / Who We Work With

Built for businesses that have outgrown duct tape.

We don't sort clients by industry — we sort them by problem. If your team does the same task by hand every week, or you need a tool that simply doesn't exist yet, that's the work — whatever business you're in. We've built for law firms, insurance, and e-commerce, but the industry was never the point. The tool is.

07 / Get In Touch

Let's talk.

Tell us what's not working. The first step is a free discovery — we find what's worth automating, together, and you get a fixed price for the first build. No obligation, no sales pressure.
